Beyond floor comfort

Other Applications of Intelligent Electric Heating Using Heating Cables

Heating cables protect people, structures, and operations - from pool decks and spas to pipe protection, snow management, frost heave control, and industrial systems.

Specialised heating cable systems

The same intelligent electric heating technology used under floors extends to outdoor, industrial, and facility-critical applications - designed and installed as complete systems with appropriate controls and insulation.

Application list

Where heating cables work beyond the living room

1

Pool Decks

Particularly in heated pools (indoor or outdoor), a swimmer coming out of a heated pool and having to walk on a cold deck barefoot is extreme discomfort. In some cases, it can lead to some form of body reaction too. More often than not, the deck areas of heated pools - whether indoors or outdoors - are heated with underfloor heating to ensure a comfortable and healthy swimmer experience. It becomes even more important for high-end hospitality properties.

2

Spa / Turkish Bath

In health clubs, where the massage / treatment table has to be a stone bed, it must stay at the right temperature to be absolutely comfortable for the human body at all times - notwithstanding the surrounding temperature (air conditioning as per weather conditions). Underfloor heating is the right answer.

3

Pipe Protect

Water inside pipes in extreme weather areas tends to freeze with the drop in temperature. As a result, water flow stops in the beginning and if not resolved, frozen water (ice inside the pipe) breaks or damages the entire pipeline in whole or in parts - resulting in complete water supply breakdown, costly repairs, and huge inconvenience. Pipe Protect is a perfect solution: heating cables are installed on pipes which are further insulated. The system works automatically and the water inside never goes below the freezing point, notwithstanding the temperature outside. Thus, the entire water supply installation becomes weather-proof.

4

Roof and Gutters

Heavy snowfall deposited on roofs exerts heavy load on the roof, creating structural risks, and at the same time cools the house below. Similarly, snow deposits in storm water gutters altogether block the gutters, further preventing the exit of snow and molten snow water. Roof and Gutters installation automatically senses the snowfall, activates itself, and keeps melting the fallen snow to maintain the roof and gutter completely clear. This is a heavy relief in areas having frequent or heavy snowfalls.

5

No Snow - Driveways and Outdoors

Vehicles slipping on snowy driveways are a heavy risk. Similarly, outdoor open areas meant for some activity are rendered completely useless with snow deposits - the same for outdoor staircases and walkways, etc. No Snow installation is fully automatic and completely prevents snow deposits as soon as snow starts, without any human attention required. This is a big safety feature in snow-prone areas.

6

Clear Road

Roads meant for vehicular traffic tend to close completely in instances of snowfall, as snow-laden roads are a huge safety risk. Clear Road installation works automatically and keeps the road drive-worthy at all times, notwithstanding the extent of snowfall.

7

Frost Heave Protection

Ice factories, cold stores, ice skating rinks, etc. maintain very low operating temperatures, resulting in their floors and pillars getting too cold too. The same floors and pillars continue underground and that portion is much hotter. This results in thermal stress and may badly damage the structure. Plus, the cold floor is in contact with the warm soil underneath and around. There is moisture in the soil that may crystallise into snow flakes on getting cold, resulting in expansion and damage to the structure. If the cold area is at a higher floor, condensation at the lower floors is inevitable. Frost Heave Protection is a kind of underfloor heating installation that keeps the floor (and the pillars, if needed) warm to a certain minimum temperature even if the space above is extremely cold - thereby the above risks are completely avoided.

8

Cold Store Door Heating

Cold store doors and their frames are also heated similarly for similar reasons.

9

Industrial Applications

Installations with large oil, water or chemical storage tanks and the associated pipelines installed outdoors and prone to unwanted cooling or freezing are protected with similar systems - with custom-selected heating cables and thermostats designed and installed into a proper system with appropriate insulation applied as required. This completely prevents operational disruptions and breakdown risks at a very nominal electricity consumption.
